From “Worm Theology,” by Steve Jones, host of the Freethinking Faith blog:
… We are often told that no one really has a good heart. Rather, every person by nature hates God. Everyone enters this world with a heart steeled in opposition to the Most High -- incapable of any good whatsoever.
Jesus didn't seem to think so, based on his "noble and good heart" reference in the Parable of the Sower. Neither do the authors of Scripture, who don't hesitate to apply such terms as "good," "blameless," and even "worthy" to mortals.* * *
Besides, we don't need to debase humanity to exalt God. He can stand on His own merits without our servile, self-deprecation.
He does some nice proof-texting too. Worthwhile reading.
