Your gold jewelry came from a supernova explosion

A powerful event in my faith journey was when I began to grasp how creation has been an ongoing process. It's exemplified by the way a supernova explosion — which has to be about the best example there is of complete and utter destruction — manufactures the elements (literally) of new planets and of life here on earth. As one astronomer told a New York Times reporter, "If you're wearing gold jewelry, it came from a supernova explosion."
