Bicycle shop for Jesus - well, maybe not quite

Four young people came to Houston to help in the Third Ward. They set up a bicycle shop to teach inner-city youth skills and self-respect. Read about it in the Houston Chronicle.

Seems to me that's what Jesus thought we should do — not fuss at each other about who believed what unprovable theological speculation.

Dogmatists will reflexively condemn this view because they're terrified people might start believing in salvation by works.  So what. Those folks are like the hard-core fundamentalists of the old joke, who were vehemently against premarital sex because they were afraid it might lead to dancing ....
